Hi Everyone,

If you know anyone considering a Ph.D. in statistics education, the Mathematics and Science Education (MSE) Ph.D. Program and Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) will host a Virtual Graduate Program Open House session on Monday, November 27 at 7:00pm Central (8 pm Eastern/6 pm Mountain/5 pm Pacific).  Register for the event at https://mtsu.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZckf-mqrDIuH9Lc6NPnHru7Q0MZBhDPB6qY. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

The Mathematics and Science Education (MSE) Ph.D. program is an interdisciplinary program designed to train academic researchers and educational professionals to carry out, evaluate, and integrate research in mathematics or science education. The MSE program offers four distinct concentrations: Biology Education, Chemical Education, Interdisciplinary Sciences Education, and Mathematics Education. Those intending to concentrate in Statistics Education would do so through the Interdisciplinary Sciences Education Concentration.

The MSE Program is currently accepting applications for graduate students in all concentrations, including statistics educationFully funded assistantships are available for the 2024-2025 school year.  Awarded assistantships include a tuition waiver and stipend for up to five years (i.e., no tuition is paid by the graduate student if awarded an assistantship; insurance, however, and other student fees are the responsibility of the student). The application deadline is January 15, 2024 for full consideration for graduate assistantships.

We are a vibrant community of scholars who conduct discipline-based educational research and actively engage our respective fields to improve K-16 STEM teaching and learning. Graduate students are supported through faculty and peer mentoring to produce scholarly presentations, research manuscripts, and grant proposals. Our program alumni go on to be college-level professors and researchers in mathematics and science education, as well as teachers and leaders in various educational settings, whose jobs require them to perform, evaluate, and integrate the results of research in mathematics and science education into classrooms.
