The San Francisco Health practice of Milliman provides actuarial and consulting services to a broad range of clients including insurance companies, healthcare providers, and government agencies.  Our services include product design and pricing, valuation, benchmarking analyses, provider reimbursement analyses, and model development.  We are seeking an analyst to assist with actuarial modeling and analyses. Flexible start date in Summer 2021.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze healthcare cost and utilization data
  • Develop actuarial models to analyze and summarize data
  • Draft reports and client correspondence
  • Assist with research projects
  • Pursue actuarial credentials

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 0 - 3 years of work experience
  • Completion of one or more Society of Actuaries exams

Campus Job Opportunity

Dr. Andrew Fricker (Social Sciences Department) and Dr. Jeremy James (Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences) have funding for two student positions to assist on analysis of spatial data and mapping of drought impacts on California grasslands and oak woodlands. The project team will utilize spatial data from the Basin Characterization Model and net primary productivity data in Google Earth Engine to analyze spatial variation in drought impacts on California plant communities. The first position requires programming experience with either Python or Java Script and ability to work with Google Earth Engine. Experience with statistical approaches to handling and analyzing spatial data is a plus.   The second position requires advanced GIS experience and ability to access, manage, and filter multiple types and sources of spatial data.
 
The positions will start June 2021 and will continue through the academic year.  Applicants should be able to commit to this time period and completing a finished product. Applicants also should show a working knowledge or strong interest in learning about climate effects on California ecosystems. These are paid hourly position with hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.

Data Analyst Intern - Applied Orthopedic Design, Arroyo Grande

OVERVIEW:

AOD, Inc. offers and provides NANO 3D pre-operative analysis and modeling services to assist orthopedic surgeons through kinematic restoration of the articular surfaces of each patient, restoring each patient’s anatomy to their pre-diseased state. Our current focus with this process is the improvement of outpatient joint replacement (knee and hip)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collection of data, between 2019 to now, to determine trends and patterns within the large datasets
  • Perform data analysis and draw reasonable conclusions from observations and interpretations
  • Generation of weekly updates and documentation of findings to project management
  • Improve current data collection system and implement efficient processes
  • Knowledge of R, Python and statistical coding programs for data analysis and reporting  

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a statistics major or interest in data analysis
  • Must be able to work under a team-based environment
  • Available for 15 hours per week
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Technical writing skills preferred
