SF State M.S. Quantitative Economics Info Session, Fri 4/17

About the Program:

Our MSQE program combines advanced training in economic theory, econometrics, data science, and programming to prepare graduates for high-impact, data-driven careers. A master's in Economics consistently ranks among the highest-paying graduate degrees.

Our graduates work as economic, business, and data analysts, data scientists, and research and policy analysts across private sector firms (e.g., Meta, Nike, Roblox, Wells Fargo, PG&E), government agencies (e.g., Federal Reserve Bank, U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics), non-profit and public-serving organizations (e.g., Kaiser Permanente, Clean Power SF), and think tanks (e.g., Bay Area Council Economic Institute). The program also serves as a strong pathway to top-ranked Ph.D. programs, with recent placements at UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, and the University of Wisconsin.

Program highlights

  • STEM-designated (eligible for a 24-month OPT extension for international students on F-1 visas)
  • Strong training in econometrics, data science, and programming
  • Access to Bay Area employers across tech, finance, policy, and consulting
  • Reduced tuition for students from 16 Western-states who pay California resident tuition rates

Students with strong quantitative backgrounds in economics, finance, math, statistics, computer science, or related fields are particularly well-suited for this program.
