Student Assistant Position: Applications due by Oct 4, 2024

 Student Success Division: Office of National & International Fellowships & Scholarships

NIFS Student Assistant 10-20 hours/week; $19/hour. Looking for a student assistant for fall, winter and

spring quarters for the 2024-2025 academic year (30 weeks). The summer is a possibility as well.

Want to work with an entrepreneurial, fast-paced team in an energetic environment, finding national and

international fellowships and scholarships, designing a website and social media campaign, collecting and

analyzing data, writing and editing, and engaging in event planning across campus? The Office of National &

International Fellowships & Scholarships (NIFS) under the Student Success division in Academic Affairs has an

opening for one student assistant. We are a vibrant, start-up styled team in higher education looking to enhance

student success at Cal Poly by identifying, preparing and successfully securing national and international

fellowships and scholarships for our talented Cal Poly students and alumni.

Administrative support includes:

• Timely responses to emails and other communications from NIFS team to students, faculty, staff,

alumni and external partners

• Inventory benchmarked and emergent opportunities: Identify new competitive scholarship and

fellowship opportunities while benchmarking existing opportunities; Monitor policies and expectations

governing scholarship/fellowship programs

• Design website for an outreach campaign across the university: Develop a dynamic and interactive

website that contains relevant information for faculty, staff, and students, and that promotes relevant

fellowship and scholarship opportunities

• Launch a coordinated social media campaign that contributes to outreach and applications

• Event Planning: Assist in all aspects of organizing fellowship program events, including open houses,

information sessions, and other events such as specific application-based workshops, retreats, fellowship

receptions involving current students and alumni, and previous award-winners

• Track scholarship and fellowship program data and assess impact & outcomes: Support data

collection tracking opportunities related to NIFS opportunities

Required skills:

• Expertise with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and OneDrive

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Knowledge of web design and UX experiences

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to build, design, edit and maintain Drupal-based website

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to create surveys/manage reports through Microsoft Forms

• Skill in social media campaign postings (Facebook, Instagram, X, and possibly TikTok)

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Reliability and dependability

• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines

• Strong organizational skills

• Professional demeanor, sense of humor and ability to interact with campus partners at all levels

Baseball Student Manager Application

Program Overview 

The Finance Internship Program is an early career development program that provides participants with a ten-week overview of Wells Fargo and a high-level understanding of the company's operations, business strategies, and organizational culture. The internship experience includes relationship building, relevant work assignments, coaching, feedback sessions, group projects, and other informative learning sessions with key leaders. It is designed to provide undergraduate students with a blend of business and professional developmental training opportunities that incorporates real-world experiences and prepares you for a career at Wells Fargo. You will be placed in one of the finance groups noted above based on your location, degree, business needs and where possible expressed areas of interest.  

 In this role, you will: 

  • Experience across various finance disciplines supporting Wells Fargo’s expectations 

  • Formal training opportunities through onboarding and orientation activities and throughout the program to prepare you for a career within finance at Wells Fargo 

  • Coaching and networking to support your professional development 

  • Exposure to multiple business lines and finance-related responsibilities 

 

Ideal candidate for this role must have the following: 

  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team or committee 

  • Highly motivated and detail oriented, with demonstrated ability to effectively organize tasks, manage time, set priorities and meet deadlines 

  • Energetic self-starter who proactively takes initiative, remains curious and has a genuine interest in learning and growth

 Required Qualifications: 

  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 

  

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation date between December 2025 – June 2026 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills 

  • Basic proficiency in Power Bi, Tableau, Alteryx, Python, SQL, and/or other analytics tools 

  • Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities through one or more of the following: volunteerism, student organization involvement, study abroad program(s), leadership position(s), non-profit involvement 

  • Pursing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Applied Math or Business Administration/Business Management. All majors are welcome
